After
carefully evaluating several resort destinations, Developers Dan Shore
and Robert Hefner selected La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur
with over 250,000 inhabitants, a city with very little crime and one of
the highest standards of living in Mexico. Primary considerations
included a healthy lifestyle and the availability to magnificent white
sand beaches, a colonial “small town” Mexican ambiance, friendly locals
and warm hospitality, close proximity to the downtown area and
services, availability of excellent medical care and the strong growth
potential of this relatively undiscovered southern Baja location.
In June 2005, Hefner and Shore seized the opportunity to purchase 4,026
m2 (45,000 square feet) of prime ocean front land with 330 feet of
beachfront and laid plans to create a revolutionary new living
environment. Prior to closing the purchase in November 2005, the
developers envisioned “The Pearl of La Paz” and aptly named the
seven-story project La Concha Pearl Luxury Condominiums.
Throughout 2006, the developers engaged in extensive design and
evaluation of new energy efficient technologies, traditional yet modern
architectural features, a palette of amenities and services suited for
vacation or retirement living, and elegant interior designs and
finishes. The extensive design and engineering of the environmentally
friendly structure and systems have received praise from the Mexican
government, pre-completion residence owners plus enthusiastic support
from the press and environmental groups for its innovative “green”
building features and sensitivity to the surrounding environment. For
